For this article, a demo head was built with each cylinder position used to highlight different stages of a typical Ford Diesel head rebuild. We see a lot of these heads and have come up with a number of solutions from a basic rebuild/restoration to ways to increase the compression, performance and durability of your Ford diesel.

Rottler's SGF8 Valve Seat and Guide machine can handle even the most complex multi-valve cylinder heads with ease. What's more, this machine provides the highest degree of valve/seat concentricity in the industry today. Rottler's rigid precision carbide centering pilots are manufactured to less than one-tenth tolerance. Combined with the lightweight air float work head, it gives perfect centering in the valve guide and the best concentricity of the valve seat to the guide.

Diesel engines undergo a tremendous amount of stress in day-to-day operations. When the time comes for that rebuild, we take the extra steps necessary to create the highest level of compression and durability. Unlike most machine shops, we stress each block with custom BHJ© Torque Plates which duplicate the stresses on the block when it is assembled. Only then do we machine the cylinder block, assuring that tolerances will not be affected and internal dimensions distorted when the engine is reassembled.
We are one of the few machine shops nationwide that offer the BHJ© Torque Plate system.
